Chief Product Officer

TeamProduct and Design
TypeContract
LocationRemote, Nigeria
Closes14 October 2026
What you will be doing.

NexTrium is building multiple products simultaneously, each addressing a different dimension of the same underlying problem: the absence of trust infrastructure in African informal economies. As Chief Product Officer, you will own the product vision across all of NexTrium's products, ensuring that each one is solving the right problem in the right way, and that together they form a coherent and compounding portfolio rather than a collection of disconnected experiments. This is a founding executive role. You will work directly with the CEO to define product strategy, with the CTO to align technical and product priorities, and with the design and engineering teams to ensure that what gets built matches what was envisioned. You will own the product roadmap, the user research framework, the prioritisation process, and the standard of product quality that NexTrium holds itself to. The right person for this role thinks in systems and outcomes, not features and releases. You understand that a product is not what it does but what it enables. You have deep empathy for users whose lives and contexts are fundamentally different from the defaults that most product thinking is built around. You have made hard product calls under uncertainty and you have the evidence to show that those calls were right.

What we are looking for
Demonstrated experience leading product strategy and roadmap across multiple digital products simultaneously
Deep understanding of user-centred design principles and experience conducting user research in emerging market contexts
Ability to define and measure product success metrics that connect to mission outcomes, not just engagement
Experience working closely with engineering and design teams to translate product vision into shipped features
Strong prioritisation skills with the ability to make clear calls on what to build, what to defer, and what to abandon
Familiarity with decentralised applications, blockchain products, or financial inclusion technology is a strong advantage
Ability to communicate product decisions clearly and defend them with evidence to technical and non-technical stakeholders
Experience building and managing product teams including product managers and designers
Strategic thinking with the ability to see how individual product decisions compound into competitive advantage over time
Genuine curiosity about the people NexTrium serves and the structural problems that keep them excluded from the systems that could help them
